Solo Artist / Musician / Thinker

A creator and a performer much appreciated for his interest in philosophy, “Luciano is an amazing clarinettist born in Naples, based in the UK for many years, a specialist of both classical and improvised music as well as an excellent composer” (RAI Radio3, Italy)

“Such a virtuoso musical performance and such joyful uplifting music I just couldn’t resist”(BBC Radio)

Internationally recognised for his groundbreaking contributions to contemporary clarinet music (as a scholar, a composer and a performer), praised by Musical Opinion (UK’s oldest classical music magazine) for his “constantly beautiful tone”, he starts his career at a very young age and has since “established himself as the friendly face of contemporary clarinet”, according to the Clarinet & Saxophone Magazine.

Luciano has defined himself as a solo artist, not solely an instrumentalist, but a complete musician in line with the tradition set by the great maestri of the past and always keen on “challenging preconceptions”. A former university lecturer in the UK, with a repertoire that embraces more than two centuries of Western music, his interpretations have been described as “bold and unique”. As a concert musician and a composer, Luciano has presented new works (either his music or pieces especially written/arranged for him) and rarely played music at some of the most established venues of the UK, Europe and America with a portfolio that also features some of the most renowned universities of the UK and South America. He regularly presents original projects via concerts/recitals and his experience also includes TV and radio performances, master-classes and other educational events, eight solo albums, books, orchestra and chamber music.
